June Holidays Week 4

Oh No! The last week of June holidays. Time flies more quickly than I mention previously and I am still stuck with lots of homework including this! Oh well, got to go and finish them. Hope Mr kek wont blow up, this homework was due one day before :)

June Holidays Week 3

Some people may wonder why i never complain about going back to school for CCA. This is because i got an 1 year MC. YES!!! Anyway, i never touched my homework at all this week because i got addicted to a computer game - Football Manager 2008! However, I need to face the consequnces of doing double the next week. Well, it may be worth it.

June Holidays Week 2

It is week 2 of the June holiday and I did not do anything much! Lazing around, playing computer games, watching tv. Well, at least i did some maths and chinese so as to not let my brain retard.

June Holidays Week 1

Finally after a long and brain-cell killing mid-year exam, is the long waited June holidays. However, as i had predicted, the teachers will never let us off by setting tons of homework for us to do. From my past years experience, I am very sure that it will past very quickly and so i must do my homework as soon as possible.

My Favourite Author

My Favourite Author: J.K Rowling

!) Wrote her first 'book' at the age of six - about a rabbit called Rabbit!
2) The Potter books she wrote have gained worldwide attention, won multiple awards, and sold nearly 400 million copies.
3) The 2008 Sunday Times Rich List estimated Rowling's fortune at £560 million ($1.1 billion), ranking her as the 12th richest woman in Britain.
4) She has become a notable philanthropist, supporting such charities as Comic Relief, One Parent Families and the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Great Britain.
5) She came out with the idea of Harry Potter on a train trip from Manchester to London in 1990.

Why is she my favourite author?

I am amazed by her fantastic writing skills. It makes me get addicted to reading her Harry Potter series. The plot, description and characters are very well plotted and seem quite belivable. She is also a philanthropist, supporting a few charities, giving aid to women and children to combat poverty and social inequality.

T2W10

The hushed appreciation of and wonder at the grubby hands that could produce such wonderful melody made me want to burst with pride. I had found him! Suddenly the music stopped and Nikolai's head slumped loudly onto the keys. I rushed to him and held his tear-stained face in my hands. Questioning him in a jocose manner, i tried to wheedle him back into playing the piano. In a quavering voice, Nikolai answered my unspoken question, "I'm no good. If I were, all this wouldn't have happened. Papa would not have died. It's a punishment for me daring to try! I want to go back to our rustic and tranquil life." The awful words hit me like a pail of ice-cold water. How was he going to face the demands of directors who would peremptory insist he produce music with such a low confidence as his Arcehilles heel? The joy of the evening suddenly turned into ashes for me...

On the spur of the moment, I picked him up and asked him if he was Nikolai Nostri. He nodded grimly, a lifetime of fear and agony imprinted on his every feature. He was clearly tired and frightened, with a pathetic look, he fanned the embers of pity in me. I led him back to the hotel, holding his tiny hand tightly. Luckily, the hotel was not greatly affected by the blast and could still function. After dinner, I brought him to the piano proudly displayed at the hotel lobby. Nikolai was a genius who can allegedly coax heavenly music out of the most cantankerous instrument and being a dilettante I was determined to see for myself the talent of this boy. I told him my wish. He reached out tentatively to touch the keys and after a long while played a few hesitant note then with gutso a beauiful melody filled the room and quitened the hustle and bustle in the the room as if bliss is brought back to the war-torn town. All I could do was to stand outside calling for the boy's name however only a scene of bedlam greeted me. No longed-for voice answered my desperate calls. Finally, i decided to make my way back to the hotel, or rather, what is left of it. The bomb blast had eradicated most of the buildings in the town. As I neared it, I suddenly became aware of footsteps behind me. Fear prickled along my back as I thought of myself being vulnerable to attacks due to the instability of the government now. At last my stamina fell flat, and i whirled around to confront my pursuer but to my surprise, it was a bedraggled little boy. Hope soared in my heart as i realised that, underneath all that soot, was the face of the prodigy I was seeking! I felt elated as I praised myself of my accomplishment despite the impeding of the bomb and i would also not face the disgruntled face of my boss but first I have to make sure he is the child i am looking for. T2W7

The whole area was filled with the pungent smell of smoke emitted form the fires still burning in the devastated area. My company had sent me here to locate a child prodigy who had demonstrated signs of musical genius at an competition. Unfortunately, before his obscure talents could be unveiled to the world, rebels in the country had overrun the government and seized control. I looked around, faltered by the sight of confusion around me. The bomb blast few minutes ago had left the town bereft of all joy and laughter. (to be continued...)
