After a bloodless coup, the victorious dictator took over command of the poor nation. "The number of my followers is legion." said the former prime minister who is detremined to have it back. However, everyone recognised the latter's words as an obvious lie that would never be true. His megalomania was the reason for his insecurity of his position as a prime minister. The following morning after he had made his speech, the dictator issued an fiat to expatriate him for having intentions to overthrow the government.

The chimpanzees are deemed by scientists to be the closest to man of all the linving apes. Chimps in the laboratory have demostrated their ability to find their way put of most tortous maze. In his natural habitat, the chimpanzee is someting of an itinerant. With the aid of his long, powerful hands, he can swing rapidly from tree to tree over considerable ground in his peregrinations. Cinema buffs who had seen Tarzan's clever monkey romp through the jungle also recognise the intelligence fo the animals.

On today's flag raising ceremony, Mr Chua told us that there was a boy caned yesterday for concoting fallacious subterfudge which led the teachers to a murky labyrinth of lies that made him evade activities that the school had planned for him. I think he should be caned for his own good so that he will not do it again. Telling lies is a serious offence which will affect your future, but don't think anyone had never tell lies before. I did when I was young and was punished harshly by my parents which made me think of that incident when I had the thought of telling lies. It was a unforgettable experience.

"WOW!" i exclaimed as i counted the amount of ang bao money i had for chinese new year. $488 exactly, the amount rose up from last year which was the antithesis what i was expecting. And the biggest 'contributer' was my Dad followed by my Mum. Being altruistic, he gave me a humongus sum of $200 which made my eyeballs almost pop out of my socket. Chinese New Year not only consist of receiving ang baos but is also the gathering of families. I can actually feel the amorous atmosherehere saturating the whole house when we were greeted by warmhearted hosts as we went to their houses. This made me more gregarious with the uncles and aunties which i meet almost only once a year. I really look forward to Chinese New Year next year and i hope that my and pao money will again RISE!

Phew! The most horrible week of this year is finally over... 4 test in the week, where has the limit of 3 gone to? But thinking ahead, chinese new year is round the corner and i can make big bucks again! Speaking of chinese new year, do you know why chinese new year requires one to wear red clothes and light fire crackers? I am going to tell you the origin of it. One legend goes that there is a extrinsic beast called nian which come to a village every spring to prey on people. Villagers were very scared. One day, a deity visited the mortal world and saw the chaos allegedly caused by nian. He decided to teach the culpable nian a lesson as he knew what nian is scared of. He quickly called the villagers for a meeting and asked them to wear red clothes and hang red decoration an the house. Meanwhile, he asked the children to make fire crackers and to light it up when the nian comes. True enough, when nian saw and heared these things, he was so afraid that he ran away immediately. From then on, the villagers wear red clothes, hang red decorations and light fire crackers to preclude nian from coming back again. The custom of putting up red paper and firing fire-crackers to scare away the nomadic Nian should it have a chance to wander back and harm us is still around. However, people today have long forgotten why they are doing all this, except that they feel the colour and the sound add to the excitement of the celebration.
