Friends are the pearls of our life. This word bears its great meaning only to those who could understand the greatness of its meaning. Good friends are wonderful. They are there to support you, to help you, to comfort you, to laugh with and to create wonderful memories. What I think makes a friend are:
Loyalty. Loyal friends stick with you through thick and thin, telling you when you did something wrong and correct you.
Trustworthy. You can’t live your life afraid that the person that you trust the most is going to betray you.
Personality. True friends are somone who gets along well with you, having the same interest, same personality. How are you going to get along well with bad attitude? Communication might be the biggest problem.
Best friends are something you don’t just find right away sometimes it takes courage and time to find that special somebody that will be your buddy and your pal forever. A friend is somebody you love very much and can trust just like your brother or sister.

Aaron's whimsical mien left all of us flabbergasted. No one in the world will expect that he would turn up in such a costume. Telling parables does not require him to dress up like that! His effrontery is certainly remarkable.

Steven's disheveled hair made him look unkempt. That was what he wanted. He was under the vigil of his enemy. He had been interrogated by them many times and had proved loyal to the brotherhood by not divulging the site where the plant is.

Dominic looks at his hands as he thought he saw stains of blood on his hands. Horrible memories gleaned in his mind. He had decided to leave his gang and abjure from committing crimes. However, he was deterred by the persistence of the gang quarrying him back. He shut his eyes forcing the images out of his mind, not wary of armed men loitering in the shadows.

Beijing Olympics is round the corner as athletes from around the world train to emulate one another trying to seize the coveted gold medal. Despite the prodigious event, there was some reports of athletes taking banned drugs. I was amazed by the celerity of the authorities in expediting the checking of taking banned drugs, it certainly made sure that the event will run smoothly. Furthermore, the athlete being caught was not trivial. He was touted to win a gold medal in swimming.

News of people having dengue fever may seem to die out, however, prevention must still go on. Primary prevention of dengue mainly resides in mosquito control. There are two primary methods: larval control and adult mosquito control. Mosquito larva may seem innocuous but they only take 6 days to form an adult Aedes mosquito. Adult Aedes mosquito propagate very quickly, they can lay eggs about 3 times in its lifetime and about 100 eggs are produced each time. These eggs hatch into larva in less than a day! There is is no commercially available vaccine for the dengue virus yet, therefore, prevention are necessary. At all times, make sure there is no surfeit of water left in the open, this creates an deleterious mosquito-free milieu for us to live in.

Oh No! The last week of June holidays. Time flies more quickly than I mention previously and I am still stuck with lots of homework including this! Oh well, got to go and finish them. Hope Mr kek wont blow up, this homework was due one day before :)
June Holidays Week 3
Some people may wonder why i never complain about going back to school for CCA. This is because i got an 1 year MC. YES!!! Anyway, i never touched my homework at all this week because i got addicted to a computer game - Football Manager 2008! However, I need to face the consequnces of doing double the next week. Well, it may be worth it.
June Holidays Week 2
It is week 2 of the June holiday and I did not do anything much! Lazing around, playing computer games, watching tv. Well, at least i did some maths and chinese so as to not let my brain retard.
June Holidays Week 1
Finally after a long and brain-cell killing mid-year exam, is the long waited June holidays. However, as i had predicted, the teachers will never let us off by setting tons of homework for us to do. From my past years experience, I am very sure that it will past very quickly and so i must do my homework as soon as possible.
My Favourite Author
My Favourite Author: J.K Rowling
!) Wrote her first 'book' at the age of six - about a rabbit called Rabbit!
2) The Potter books she wrote have gained worldwide attention, won multiple awards, and sold nearly 400 million copies.
3) The 2008 Sunday Times Rich List estimated Rowling's fortune at £560 million ($1.1 billion), ranking her as the 12th richest woman in Britain.
4) She has become a notable philanthropist, supporting such charities as Comic Relief, One Parent Families and the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Great Britain.
5) She came out with the idea of Harry Potter on a train trip from Manchester to London in 1990.
Why is she my favourite author?
I am amazed by her fantastic writing skills. It makes me get addicted to reading her Harry Potter series. The plot, description and characters are very well plotted and seem quite belivable. She is also a philanthropist, supporting a few charities, giving aid to women and children to combat poverty and social inequality.

The hushed appreciation of and wonder at the grubby hands that could produce such wonderful melody made me want to burst with pride. I had found him! Suddenly the music stopped and Nikolai's head slumped loudly onto the keys. I rushed to him and held his tear-stained face in my hands. Questioning him in a jocose manner, i tried to wheedle him back into playing the piano. In a quavering voice, Nikolai answered my unspoken question, "I'm no good. If I were, all this wouldn't have happened. Papa would not have died. It's a punishment for me daring to try! I want to go back to our rustic and tranquil life." The awful words hit me like a pail of ice-cold water. How was he going to face the demands of directors who would peremptory insist he produce music with such a low confidence as his Arcehilles heel? The joy of the evening suddenly turned into ashes for me...

On the spur of the moment, I picked him up and asked him if he was Nikolai Nostri. He nodded grimly, a lifetime of fear and agony imprinted on his every feature. He was clearly tired and frightened, with a pathetic look, he fanned the embers of pity in me. I led him back to the hotel, holding his tiny hand tightly. Luckily, the hotel was not greatly affected by the blast and could still function. After dinner, I brought him to the piano proudly displayed at the hotel lobby. Nikolai was a genius who can allegedly coax heavenly music out of the most cantankerous instrument and being a dilettante I was determined to see for myself the talent of this boy. I told him my wish. He reached out tentatively to touch the keys and after a long while played a few hesitant note then with gutso a beauiful melody filled the room and quitened the hustle and bustle in the the room as if bliss is brought back to the war-torn town. (to be continued...)

All I could do was to stand outside calling for the boy's name however only a scene of bedlam greeted me. No longed-for voice answered my desperate calls. Finally, i decided to make my way back to the hotel, or rather, what is left of it. The bomb blast had eradicated most of the buildings in the town. As I neared it, I suddenly became aware of footsteps behind me. Fear prickled along my back as I thought of myself being vulnerable to attacks due to the instability of the government now. At last my stamina fell flat, and i whirled around to confront my pursuer but to my surprise, it was a bedraggled little boy. Hope soared in my heart as i realised that, underneath all that soot, was the face of the prodigy I was seeking! I felt elated as I praised myself of my accomplishment despite the impeding of the bomb and i would also not face the disgruntled face of my boss but first I have to make sure he is the child i am looking for. The whole area was filled with the pungent smell of smoke emitted form the fires still burning in the devastated area. My company had sent me here to locate a child prodigy who had demonstrated signs of musical genius at an competition. Unfortunately, before his obscure talents could be unveiled to the world, rebels in the country had overrun the government and seized control. I looked around, faltered by the sight of confusion around me. The bomb blast few minutes ago had left the town bereft of all joy and laughter. (to be continued...)

Morted took the fetish home and examine the inscription on its back. He need to decipher it before he knew can know how to absorb its magical power inside. Chanting some spells that unlocked the aegis of his chest, he took out a old book left to him by a sage and began deciphering the inscription. He found out that he had to absorb it under the moonlight and began the ritual immediately. Suddenly, a conflagration broke out and he was blown into debris by the by the powerful eruption of the orb. Poor Morted, he missed out the part of doing ritual in the full moon while deciphering the inscription and thus the orb exploded and blowing him into pieces.

Smirking at the inanimate body beside him, he imagined that how the villagers will react when they found Knight Davion dead the next morning. Morted was the deadliest assassin on earth, the deadly precision with which he carries out his attacks made her inviolable for his target to retaliate. Holding the artifact in his hands, he thought of the day when he could rule the world with the object. The fetish glowed in his hands and he could feel its magical powers surging into his arms. Fearing of the glowing of the orb being noticed, he put the blue chip into his pocket and disappeared into the darkness with a swish of his cloak.

Sports day today is catastrophic. With the size of the stadium analogous to a one-room flat and the stuffy weather it was as if we were trapped in a one-room flat on fire. However, the events that took place neutralized the stuffiness and jolted me out of my boredom to cheer for our school. The event that i feel that is the most interesting is the relay race of the pedagogues. I can feel that the teachers regain their youth and running like that never ran before in a break-neck speed. Oh yeah! Forgot to mention that Bing Hong keeps asking me for my phone to play games which is very irascible. Anyway, is very enjoyable and i hope to attend it again.

Secondary three's life is really tough and i could barely cope with it. I just got back my marks of the tests before the march holidays and it was really lousy. Passed terribly for my english, maths and biology. Sigh... Must really work hard the next test. In the meantime, i decided to fabricate a story to delude my parents about not able to get back my test papers while hiding them in a covert place(learnt this skill from hubert), until when there is nothing more to lie I will then acknowledge that i had done badly for the test. Will I succeed?

Inspector James had to ponder over whether this piece of evidence is bona fide. He had received lots of calls from the public claiming they saw the wanted terrorist Al Khatos. Was his escape in desultory due to the lack of security? Was there anyone that help him escape? He was also kept on tenter hooks by his superiors that urge him to catch him as soon as possible thus he had to be like Caesar's wife so that he will not overlook any evidence that will send the terrorist back to the detention centre again.

Computer games addiction
Today's computer games are available in a plethora of venues that draw individuals into the world of the game. Games are designed to keep the player riveted to action. Players experience a sense of control when they enter into the fantasy world of speed, realism, violence, new morals, and interoperability. Many games offer on-line anonymous interaction with other people; it gives players a sense of family or belonging in the form of a pseudo persona the player develops when repeatedly playing the game. The longer the game is played, the more the pseudo persona can replace reality. This result in addiction in gaming. So why are our kids so addicted nowadays?
Firstly, the access of computer has led kids to start playing computer games. As almost every household could afford to have computers nowadays kids get exposed to gaming at a young age. Internet also allows games to be played online or downloaded easily.
Secondly, to add on to the point i mentioned earlier of having Internet access, there are examples of online games like Maple Story and Runescape. These are the common online games played by kids nowadays and you must have Internet access to play these games.
Thirdly, these games are highly addictive and allow you to level up when you obtain enough experience. These kind of games normally are the main causes of addiction as the player will keep wanting to go on and on to level up. By playing these games they find a satisfaction that they cannot get academically in school. They can feel superior to the "nerds" in school.
So people may say that they should not buy a computer for their child or have Internet access at home. However, parents can buy for them if they keep a close eye on their children. They should adopt whatever method that they think is good for their children but not to ban them from everything or their effort will backfire.

John was incensed. He was indicted by his boss for losing the important document needed to clinch the multi-million dollar deal. His boss reviled him but due to the commitment he had done for the company, he did not sack John. John was so angry with his scheming colleague who left him holding the bag and was promoted because he found the document. It was obviously a set-up made up by him but John had to face the vicissitudes in the working world. Suddenly, an idea flashed across his mind, he decided to take the wind out of his snail by throwing away his colleague's document in the upcoming deal. Will he succeed?

After a bloodless coup, the victorious dictator took over command of the poor nation. "The number of my followers is legion." said the former prime minister who is detremined to have it back. However, everyone recognised the latter's words as an obvious lie that would never be true. His megalomania was the reason for his insecurity of his position as a prime minister. The following morning after he had made his speech, the dictator issued an fiat to expatriate him for having intentions to overthrow the government.

The chimpanzees are deemed by scientists to be the closest to man of all the linving apes. Chimps in the laboratory have demostrated their ability to find their way put of most tortous maze. In his natural habitat, the chimpanzee is someting of an itinerant. With the aid of his long, powerful hands, he can swing rapidly from tree to tree over considerable ground in his peregrinations. Cinema buffs who had seen Tarzan's clever monkey romp through the jungle also recognise the intelligence fo the animals.

On today's flag raising ceremony, Mr Chua told us that there was a boy caned yesterday for concoting fallacious subterfudge which led the teachers to a murky labyrinth of lies that made him evade activities that the school had planned for him. I think he should be caned for his own good so that he will not do it again. Telling lies is a serious offence which will affect your future, but don't think anyone had never tell lies before. I did when I was young and was punished harshly by my parents which made me think of that incident when I had the thought of telling lies. It was a unforgettable experience.

"WOW!" i exclaimed as i counted the amount of ang bao money i had for chinese new year. $488 exactly, the amount rose up from last year which was the antithesis what i was expecting. And the biggest 'contributer' was my Dad followed by my Mum. Being altruistic, he gave me a humongus sum of $200 which made my eyeballs almost pop out of my socket. Chinese New Year not only consist of receiving ang baos but is also the gathering of families. I can actually feel the amorous atmosherehere saturating the whole house when we were greeted by warmhearted hosts as we went to their houses. This made me more gregarious with the uncles and aunties which i meet almost only once a year. I really look forward to Chinese New Year next year and i hope that my and pao money will again RISE!

Phew! The most horrible week of this year is finally over... 4 test in the week, where has the limit of 3 gone to? But thinking ahead, chinese new year is round the corner and i can make big bucks again! Speaking of chinese new year, do you know why chinese new year requires one to wear red clothes and light fire crackers? I am going to tell you the origin of it. One legend goes that there is a extrinsic beast called nian which come to a village every spring to prey on people. Villagers were very scared. One day, a deity visited the mortal world and saw the chaos allegedly caused by nian. He decided to teach the culpable nian a lesson as he knew what nian is scared of. He quickly called the villagers for a meeting and asked them to wear red clothes and hang red decoration an the house. Meanwhile, he asked the children to make fire crackers and to light it up when the nian comes. True enough, when nian saw and heared these things, he was so afraid that he ran away immediately. From then on, the villagers wear red clothes, hang red decorations and light fire crackers to preclude nian from coming back again. The custom of putting up red paper and firing fire-crackers to scare away the nomadic Nian should it have a chance to wander back and harm us is still around. However, people today have long forgotten why they are doing all this, except that they feel the colour and the sound add to the excitement of the celebration.

Another seemed interminable week is over and I was anticipating the moment of getting home and play my computer games. But I encountered a phenomenon which I immediately forget my excitement. I discovered that two of my fishes were biting each other! It was very unusual as fishes do not behave like this. Were they kissing? I asked myself but there were other fishes around. Wouldn't it be embarrassing? Maybe they were having a skirmish as one of them rules the roost and maybe the other one was unhappy with it. I couldn't perceive what they were doing at that time but i will ask them if i could.

Speaking of writing, a memory suddenly surge into my mind. It was my most successful writing experience and i am going to share to everyone. I was in primary one and studying in Temasek Primary School at that time. I was given the title "My Family" to write on and at the end of the year, I was astonished to find my essay published on a book that was given free to all Temasek students. It was called Expressions-Essays from Temasek. Although, you all may find it mundane as it was a primary one's work and it was like 7 years ago but i am proud of it as I am from a Chinese educated family and when I went to primary one, my English was rudimentary and had no one to accost. This incident boosted my confidence in English and spurred me to work harder. I guess that i would subjugate English one day.

Journals involves writing and I loathe writing. But as a writer, i usually go places which will give me inspiration like the library to write.(I wrote this post in the library as my computer crashed.) I prefer writing personal recount to argumentative essay and descriptive writing. I find them difficult to write as it requires one to give their opinion and as i am weak in vocabulary, I usually find myself stuck trying to find out what is the best word to express myself. Personal recount requires one to narrate a story and i find it easier to write. I would definitely eschew argumentative essay and descriptive writing during exam.I was loath when being told to write journals but thinking back, writing journal helps me to enhance my vocabulary and luckily Mr Kek's lessons isn't lackluster and will definitely improve my English.
